what we believe

Our beliefs at Centerpoint are composed of 5 ONE's. We refer to these as THE ESSENTIALS.

The Essentials are the core beliefs of the Christian faith. Our desire is to focus on the major doctrines of the Christian faith. We believe we are at our best when we are focused on what we are for, not what we are against!

We define who God is by what he has revealed in His Word. We find that God is very clear about who He is even if we have difficulty comprehending it.

We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..." Matthew 28:19

What we believe about Jesus is crucial to our understanding of God's plan to save the world. Jesus in many ways and at many times declared that He was indeed the One true God.

We believe Jesus is fully God and fully human, was born of a virgin, lived in unbroken fellowship with the Father, was crucified for our sins, raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, and one day will return and restore all things.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1

"Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage." Philippians 2:5-6

There is only one true gospel, which is found in Jesus + nothing else.

We believe that salvation from sin and spiritual death is by faith alone in Christ alone. It is a free gift that cannot be earned. Those who have placed their faith in Christ will experience eternal life with Him in Heaven.

"For God loved the world this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

"For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift - not from works, that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

We believe that the Bible alone is our final source for truth. It teaches us who God is and who we are. It's a narrative of God's plan to save the world from sin and death.

We believe that the Bible is the only inspired and authoritative Word of God.

"All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness..." 2 Timothy 3:16

How do we know if we are attending the right church? There is not one denomination that holds the mantle for being the only true church. Jesus clearly calls his people to gather together in local churches in order to fulfill his purposes on Earth.

We believe that one true church consists of all those that belong to Christ by grace alone, through faith alone.

"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope at your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all." Ephesians 4:4-6

The Mission of Centerpoint is to make Jesus the center point of our lives and to make Jesus known from the center point of Utah Valley.

We believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; each one of us is invited by grace to make Jesus the center point of our lives. At Centerpoint we engage in this through our 4 values LOVE. LIVE. LISTEN. LEAD. We believe that living out these values leads to a healthy Jesus-centered community.

We were made for worship. Whether we are eating, drinking, working, or recreating we were made to live for the One who created us. We were made for something greater than ourselves. We were made for a great relationship with God. So making Jesus the center point is essentially living a life of worship.

The primary venue for us to worship is our Sunday service at 9:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. We spend time focusing our attention on God through singing, prayer, reading, and communicating the truth of God's Word. We encourage you to make this time with God a major priority in your week as you seek to make Jesus the center in your life.

We want you to experience relational community that makes Jesus the center. We desire to be a place that creates an atmosphere of loving and accepting one another with the love of Christ. Our focus is on being a community that fully embraces both grace and truth.

We have 2 primary venues for relational community. Sunday Mornings are a time for worship, but they are also a time to connect with each other. We encourage you to come early and stay late and enjoy spending time with others who love Christ. Life Groups are another great way to experience community. We encourage you to check in at our Life Group table frequently to be part of a group or consider applying to facilitate a new Life Group.

Once we are a follower of Jesus we are invited to be an active part of His family - the church. We all have different passions, abilities, and gifts with which we can serve. We are also given resources, time, and money to invest in what God is doing. We believe that asking you to serve and give from a cheerful heart is truly a benefit to you. When you invest your life in serving and giving generously you are living an other's focused life, which leads to greater joy and freedom. There are many ways to serve at Centerpoint. Please fill out a Connect Card to get involved in serving.

The good news of Jesus teaches us that we have everything we ever need in Christ. We believe that God has given us His Word and His Spirit to help us grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. We believe that God's Word is meant for our transformation. As we make Jesus the center point of our lives we realize the importance of time in God's Word and in prayer. This is how we listen to God and respond to him relationally. This process of growth is God's plan to make us more and more like Christ.

We encourage you to come to our Sunday service with your Bible and listen to the communication of God's Word. You can also get involved with a Life Group study. One of the best ways to grow is to spend time with God on your own daily.

When we are clear about God's love and grace, it's impossible for us to keep silent. At Centerpoint we love the people of Utah Valley. We know that one of the best ways to reach people here is to invest in them relationally and simply invite them to the church.

We believe each one of us plays a part in fulfilling Jesus' great commission. As each of us go into our spheres of influence we have the opportunity to share the invitation of God's amazing grace with others.
