Take Heart
This message takes us into the middle of the Sea of Galilee where the disciples find themselves rowing against a relentless headwind, straining for hours yet making no progress. What unfolds is a profound revelation about faith, weakness, and recognizing Jesus for who He truly is. The passage from Mark 6:45-52 isn't just about a miraculous water-walking moment; it's about what happens when we're doing everything right but still can't seem to get anywhere. The disciples had just witnessed Jesus feed over 5,000 people, yet their hearts remained hardened to His true identity. When Jesus comes walking on the water, He uses language that echoes God's self-revelation to Moses and Elijah—He 'passes by' them and declares 'It is I,' reminiscent of God's 'I AM' declaration. The message challenges our cultural assumption that spiritual maturity means needing Jesus less. Instead, we discover that true discipleship means growing in greater dependence on Him. Sometimes we need a clearer view of Jesus more than we need calmer seas. God in His wisdom may allow exhaustion and desperation because it positions us to finally see and hear Him. Our strength was never meant to be enough—and that's actually good news.
