We work with one of the 12 Hogar de Amor orphanages in or near the city of Colima, Mexico. Colima is 2.5 hours south of Guadalajara and about an hour from the Pacific Ocean. The Hogar de Amor group of orphanages is a ministry of the Grupo Amor Church in Colima, Mexico and the surrounding area. Grupo Amor actively seeks to protect and care for vulnerable children in their area and welcomes the partnership of other churches to come alongside their congregation to serve the children of Hogar de Amor.
The beauty of a learning-based orphan care mission trip is that all ages and skillsets are valuable and useful. An open heart is your most important asset. Skills in teaching, leading craft projects, sports, and music are invaluable as we form relationships with the children of Hogar de Amor. Work projects are based on the skill set of the group and often include light construction projects, general maintenance, sewing and mending, electrical and plumbing work, and the omnipresent painting projects that naturally accompany homes with so many children. This trip is open to adults and accompanied children age 9 and older.
